Jack R. Olson started studying art in formal studio settings at an early age. While taking historical Scandinavian folk art and basic painting classes from the Milan Village Arts School in Milan, Minnesota, he developed his initial hand skill and creative drive.

Attaining a liberal arts bachelors degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa began to solidify his intellectual fascinations. Exploring the disciplines of; Identity Studies on race gender and sexuality, Social Welfare,
